 About the OPR-87.
The OPR 87 is modeled on The German classic 'The Neumann U87i' and Like the original the OPR 87 is a FET driven Large diaphragm condenser microphone with a transformer coupled output.

The signal path comprises of all discrete through hole components and The 87 features omni, cardioid and figure 8 polar patterns as well as a 10db pad and low cut switch so there's no job too hard for The OPR 87 which mimics the time honored sound of the ultimate studio work horse which has become a favorites of studios the world over!

Also included are a heavy duty shock mount, mic pouch and an aluminum flight case.

THE CAPSULE

OPR 87 K67 STYLE MICROPHONE CAPSULE

The OPR 87 Capsule is the sonic engine room that gives the OPR 87 it's sound. Based on the original Neumann K67, The capsule used in the venerable Neumann U67 and U87 microphones. The OPR 67S  capsule is a full size 35mm capsule with dual back-plates and gold coated, center terminated, 6micron diaphragms. The sound is smooth with an open top end and rich mid range, the lows are full and extended, giving it a that magical proximity effect that classic microphones exhibit.

OPR 87 U-MOD

OPR-87 u-mod KIT-1.jpg

This new  "OPR 87 U-MOD" modification for the OPR-87 bridges the gap between the OPR87 and OPR-U87 1:1 Clone. I wanted to offer a more cost effective option that would offer more of the U87's sound but at a price point that's more accessible. The goal of the OPR 87 U-MOD was to get as close as possible to the original while retaining most of the OPR87 parts and without the extensive and expensive rebuilding as is done OPR U87 1:1 clone.

Which is still well worth it BTW, as  it's as close to the original as it gets!

but the the OPR U-Mod 87 certainly holds it's own.

In a nutshell, I rework the capsule and add the same negative feedback tone shaping circuit you would find in the original U87, which BTW is "Key" to sonic footprint of the Vintage U87i sound. In addition selected signal path components are replaced as well as adjustment that further improve l fidelity and headroom of the amplifier.

The results are much closer to the sound the Vintage "U87i" With it's forward midrange and a smooth yet detailed tops.

Special offer price for the OPR87 with the U-MOD $580.00.00
