O.P.R FLUX
Classic ribbon heritage. Modern O.P.R engineering.
The O.P.R FLUX range draws inspiration from two of the most celebrated ribbon microphones ever made — the RCA 44 and the Coles 4038.
Rather than simply recreating these classic designs, FLUX takes their fundamental principles and brings them into a modern O.P.R interpretation, combining traditional ribbon character with exceptional bandwidth, detail and musicality.
The range includes three distinct models — Classic, Torus and SUB ZERO — each offering a different approach to ribbon microphone design.
While Classic and Torus share the same long-geometry ribbon motor, differing in their output transformers, SUB ZERO takes an entirely different approach, with a dedicated motor inspired by the legendary Coles 4038.
FLUX CLASSIC — EI-Core
Traditional weight and character.
FLUX Classic is built around our long-geometry ribbon motor, inspired by the RCA 44.
At its heart is a precision-corrugated 1.8-micron aluminium ribbon, employing classic RCA-style corrugation and extended ribbon geometry to deliver a remarkably wide and flat frequency response.
Coupled to our custom O.P.R EI-core output transformer, Classic delivers a full-bodied, rich and authoritative sound, with a solid low end and a subtly rounded presentation.
It's the FLUX for those seeking the familiar weight, texture and musicality of a great traditional ribbon microphone.
FLUX TORUS — Toroidal
A different transformer. A different character.
FLUX Torus shares exactly the same 1.8-micron long-ribbon motor as Classic, but replaces the EI-core transformer with our custom O.P.R toroidal design.
The toroidal construction offers efficient magnetic coupling, low leakage flux and excellent bandwidth.
The result is a clean, open and highly articulate presentation, with excellent transient response and clarity, while retaining the natural smoothness associated with a well-designed ribbon microphone.

FLUX SUB ZERO — 0.6 Micron
A different motor. A different approach.
Introducing the newest addition to the O.P.R FLUX family — FLUX SUB ZERO.
Drawing inspiration from the legendary British Coles 4038, SUB ZERO is an entirely different design from its Classic and Torus siblings.
At its heart is an exceptionally thin 0.6-micron aluminium ribbon, approximately one-third the thickness of the ribbon used in our long-geometry FLUX models.
The dedicated ribbon motor closely follows the design principles, ribbon geometry and corrugation of the original Coles 4038, coupled to a custom toroidal output transformer.
The result is a microphone that stays true to the fundamental character and design philosophy of the 4038, while offering slightly more extended high-frequency response, as confirmed by our own comparative measurements against an original Coles 4038.
Rather than simply fitting a thinner ribbon into an existing motor, SUB ZERO has been developed around an entirely different ribbon architecture.
For those who appreciate the distinctive character of the classic British broadcast ribbon microphone, SUB ZERO offers our own interpretation of this celebrated design.
