Step back to the mid 1950s.
Tape machines rolling. Tubes running hot.
Engineers pushing the best equipment of the time to its limits, not to fix things later, but to capture them as they truly were.
 
Jazz ensembles recorded live. Orchestras filled the room. Rock ’n’ roll was just beginning.
What you heard wasn’t constructed, it was documented. Space, depth, and tone, preserved in real time, for all time.
Between 1953 and 1963, the C12 became part of that process. Not just another microphone, but a benchmark.
State of the art then, and in many ways, still now.
It never really left, carrying through every era from the 60s to the present day, valued for the same reason it always has been its ability to capture detail, depth, and space without compromise.
At its core was the CK12 capsule. A design with a level of detail and resolution that remains remarkable to this day. Open, precise, and effortless in a way modern designs still chase.
The O.P.R X12 is built with that same intent.
At its centre is the O.P.R OP12, a hand built, accurate CK12 recreation, refined for well over a decade.
The circuit is fully tube driven and true to the original, hand built point to point on acrylic with carefully selected premium components.
A proper recreation of what made those microphones matter in the first place.
